Why is a Website's Usability Important?
Anyone who visits a website will do so because they want to collect or share information. A website that is not user friendly will impede their ability to do this. If a site looks confusing and discombobulated then it will be difficult to use. Oftentimes, this will turn people away. The whole point of a website's usability is to make that site convenient and practical for use. If your site isn't practical for use then no one will want to visit it. It won’t really matter how great your product is, or how important the information is, if the site is difficult to use, people will go elsewhere.
No one wants to waste time trying to figure out where to find something on a website when there are a hundred other Google searches they could try instead. If you want people to stay on your website and keep coming back, you had better be certain that your website is designed to be consistent and efficient. The World Wide Web has a multitude of websites with similar data that is merely a search engine away. People know this. And if you want to sell a brand or inform the masses, then you want people to visit your website.
